Adam Milstein: Israel’s Most Patriotic Humanitarian

Adam Milstein is in fact a man who has done more for the nation of Israel than an entire community of people ever could do collectively in a lifetime. Throughout the course of his life, Milstein not only executed passion and commitment when assisting in the advancement of the lives of his Jewish brethren, but he too was sacrificial in the fact that he relinquished his personal time and jeopardized his life in his assurance of hope to others. Having begun in the nation of Israel during the days of his youth when he was being reared by positive parental guidance and inspirational cultural experiences, Adam Milstein made the heroic choice to assume the responsibility of leadership when united with the Israeli Defense Forces to fight in the Yom Kippur War in 1973. Once Israel won and the war was over, Adam Milstein became further inspired to continue on with the pursuit of war alternatives that would permit him the opportunity to create change within his community. Therefore, he sought to equip himself with one of the most powerful tools known to man—an education.

After attending the Israel Institute of Technology and graduating with his business management degree in 1978, Milstein packed up his family and belongings and left Israel to go settle in the state of California in the United States. Once in California, Adam Milstein went back to school so that he could have the opportunity to make the ultimate career move. He enrolled to be a student at the University of Southern California where after earning his MBA in 1983, he was given the chance to prove his professional business skills in the real estate industry. After employing earnestness as a sales agent to be the best in his field, Adam Milstein was given the chance to serve as a Managing Partner for Encino, California’s Hager Pacific Properties—a position Milstein currently upholds to this day.

Moreover, after acquiring networking experience under his financial management obligations with the multi-billion dollar private real estate firm, Adam Milstein was thus enabled to utilize his business status to oversee the development of pro-Israel projects for the Israeli-American community. In 2000, Milstein co-founded the Milstein Family Foundation which was soon to be followed by his co-founding of the Israeli-American Council (IAC) in 2007. The Adam and Gila Milstein Family Foundation was created by Milstein and his dear wife Gila to serve the greater needs of the Israeli-American community via the organization’s supply of healthcare assistance, career training, pro-Israel association funding, and Jewish education. Furthermore, under Milstein’s second biggest project (IAC), the Israeli-American community has benefited from the organization’s fortification of the cultural bond/identity between Israeli-Americans and the nation of Israel.

Jeffery Aronin: Pharmaceutical Innovator

Jeffery Aronin, CEO of Chicago-based Paragon Biosciences, LLC, and founder of MATTER, a platform to help support the Chicago biotechnology industry, aims to help move medicine forward. The main focus of Paragon is to create medicines and to invest in pharmaceutical startups that tackle health problems unaddressed by current medications. Over the past 10 years Paragon has helped bring more medicines from its main therapeutically areas to the market than any other drug company. Meeting with similar success, MATTER, has helped to make Chicago a major biotechnology hub, creating companies and relationships that aim to bring more innovation to medicine and to help patients.

Jeffery Aronin’s initial interest in medicine started years ago when he was shadowing a doctor. One of the patients he encountered was a child who was suffering from seizures. Treatment included surgical removal of part of the child’s brain. But there was an new, experimental medication that could help. The family was devastated by the prospect of having their child endure the surgical treatment. So the untried experimental treatment was used, and it worked. The family’s profound happiness at the treatment’s success and the child’s improved health led Aronin to work in pharmaceuticals.

Paragon Sciences has invested over $450 million in drug creation, with an additional $445 million to be invested as of October 2018. Paragon and its portfolio companies have created over 32 novel medicines and new drug applications. Such portfolio companies include Castle Creek Pharma and Harmony Bioscience, among others. Aronin credits the employees for some of Paragon’s success, noting that many have been with the company for years and were chosen because they share Aronin’s vision.

Aronin’s second endeavor, MATTER was created in 2015 and brings together diverse healthcare professionals to help create better medicines and treatments. The organization hosts classes and collaboration spaces in which healthcare workers, pharmaceutical executives, and others can work together to deal with various issues in healthcare and drug development. For example, the large 25,000 square feet space that houses MATTER includes an area called The Shop where inventors and entrepreneurs can meet to create new medical technologies.

Larkin & Lacey

A President of the United States can pardon anyone, anywhere in the county. In the case of the U.S. v. Joe Arpaio, President Trump granted a pardon to Mr. Arpaio in November of 2017.

Joe Arpaio called himself the toughest sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona where he served as sheriff since 1992. It was his in-human and cruel actions against the Latino population of Maricopa County which helped to land Mr. Arpaio in jail.

It was revealed in a law suit in 2011 against Sheriff Arpaio that he was accused of detaining and jailing Arizona’s Latino population illegally. A Circuit Judge warned him to stop his activities and to cease violating the rights of immigrants and the Latino citizens of Maricopa County. Joe Arpaio ignored the Court’s Order; thus, he was arrested.

The earlier law suit and the following court papers have identified that award-winning journalists Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey had a great deal to do with exposing the illegal actions of Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

The back story for Larkin, Lacey, and Arpaio stems from the many published stories by the journalists describing the former sheriff’s tortures, death, and imprisonment of Latinos. Lacey and Larkin also reported on the Sheriff’s illegal financial activities.

In a nighttime raid in October 2007 at the home of Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey, Sheriff Joe Arpaio jailed the journalists and took their confidential notes and paperwork.

The arrest of Jim and Michael hit the newspaper industry around the U.S. The American Civil Liberties Union, grassroots organizations for justice, and several politicians raised an uproar on their arrest and demanded that the journalist be released immediately.

Jim and Michael spent 24 days in jail and when they were released filed a law suit against the Maricopa County officials for violating their First Amendment rights. After five years, Jim and Michael were found not guilty against the unsubstantiated charges that Sheriff Arpaio and the officials brought against them.

Larkin and Lacey sued the County and won their case with a 3.7 million-dollar settlement. Larkin and Lacey used the money to establish the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund. Frontera is an organization which supports Latino immigrants and all citizens in protecting their First Amendment rights. Read more: Jim Larkin | LinkedIn and Jim Larkin | Angel.co

But the question is, why did the Trump Administration pardon Joe Arpaio? It is surmised that when candidate Donald Trump was campaigning in Arizona, former Sheriff Joe Arpaio aggressively stumped for him.

When the pardon was granted, Larkin and Lacey said that this was a less than proud day for the Administration and the country. Also, Joe Arpaio attempted to run for sheriff again, but he was defeated. Now that the country has learned about Joe Arpaio, all civil rights organizations, the Frontera Fund, and other grassroots organizations know who he is and what he stands for.

In addition to monitoring Joe Arpaio is the new website created by Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin called the Front Page Confidential which reports on issues involving threats to freedom of speech, First Amendment issues, and people’s rights in general.

Jim Larkin Fighting for the Rights of the Leaders

James Larkin, also commonly known as Jim Larkin is one of the most popular figures in Ireland when it comes to labor’s rights and organization. He is the one who founded the famous Irish Transport and General Workers’ Union and ensured that the people get their rights.

Born in 1876, James Larkin witnessed a lot of unfair practice later in his life in the field of labors’ rights and paid. It is for this reason he resolved to strengthen the position of workers and formed the Irish Transport and General Workers’ Union, which went on to become the biggest union in the country.

As the ITGWU dissolved later on during the time of Dublin Lockout, Jim Larkin moved to the United States to continue his struggle and voice his opinion on labor’s right as a social activist. However, his struggle didn’t end there, and he has deported from the United States soon after.

James Larkin had a rough childhood and grew up in the low-income neighborhood of Liverpool, England. He did have formal education, but his youth died early as he had to do various jobs simultaneously to support his family.

Due to his leadership skills and is a great orator, Jim Larkin went on to become the leader at the docks of Liverpool. While working at the docks, Jim Larkin realized that the rights of the labors are being forfeited wrongfully, and it is for this reason he joined National Union of Dock Labourers to become a trade union organizer.

It helped Jim Larkin to get noticed and become a prominent figure among the workers in the country. His way of protest against the authorities and the militant strike techniques became popular, and he was transferred later to Dublin where he eventually started the Irish Transport and General Workers’ Union.

In 1912, Jim Larkin in association with James Connolly launched the famous Irish Labour Party that rose to tremendous power in the country and helped give the power back in the hands of the labors. More than 100,000 workers went on strike due to the Jim Larkin and other leaders’ support, and finally, the fair employment deal was signed by the industry leaders.
