Duda Melzer: The Man Behind the Diversified Business Profile of Grupo RBS

Duda Melzer, the President and the Chairman of Grupo RBS, is credited for diversifying the media group’s business into new areas and territories. Since joined Grupo RBS in 2004, he helped it to frame better growth strategies and execute some of the important decisions. Melzer is the founder and Chairman of the group’s digital investment arm called e.Bricks Digital. As he was coming from an entrepreneurial family, high-value business and innovative strategies are part of his blood. Under Melzer, the group operates a publishing company called RBS Publications, a logistics company called Vialog, a technology-focused HR product firm called Appus, and more. Duda Melzer says that he takes inspiration from John Davis, a Harvard professor and specialist in the family business. Melzer thankfully remembers that rules of Davis for excellence in governance helped the group to become one of the largest media groups in the Brazil. Melzer’s contributions to the group and the media industry helped him to be listed on the Cambridge Institute for Family Enterprise leaders in 2015. He was also awarded as the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2015.

Melzer completed his graduation from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul in Business Administration. Later, he secured his MBA from the Harvard Business School, and he also completed two executive courses from Harvard. Melzer became the President of Grupo RBS in 2012 and was elected as the Chairman of the board of directors in 2015. He is also one of the directors of the Mercosul Biennial – a contemporary art show conducted by the Iberê Camargo Foundation – taking place in Porto Alegre.
